2009/2010 changes to the Canadians travelling out-of-province and visitors to Canada plans:

Travelling Canadians
12.9% average increase in the premiums for Travelling Canadians.
Emergency Medical Benefits - Expenses to bring someone to your bedside has been increased from $300 to $500 for hotel and meal expenses.
Trip Cancellation benefit related to a business meeting cancellation has been extended to include one travel companion who has also purchased Manulife travel insurance.
Trip interruption benefit regarding 'missed connection or delay of a connection' has been modified.
Refunds - The policy now clarifies that refunds are available only if there has been or will be no claim reported or initiated against the policy.

Individual Medical Underwriting Plan
(For Individuals not eligible to purchase MFTI)

New phone numbers effective immediately

Individuals 55 years of age and over, unable to meet the MFTI eligibility requirements (as stated in Step 1 of the Medical Questionnaire) may be eligible for Manulife’s Individual Medical Underwriting Plan.

The Individual Medical Underwriting Plan provides coverage of pre-existing conditions with no required stability period.

Visitors to Canada
3% increase in the premium for Single Trip rates for ages 70-85 in Plan A and for all ages in Plan B.
The policy now specifically states that refunds are available if there has been no claim or there has been or will be no claim reported or initiated against the policy since the effective date of insurance.
The following definitions have been modified: Accidental Bodily Injury, Change in Medication, Stable, and Treatment.
